The Dubai Desert Classic is the region's longest running and most anticipated annual golf tournament. Since its inception in 1989, this iconic event has brought together global golfing stars, combining world-class sport with exceptional food, entertainment, and unforgettable experiences.

Elevated to the prestigious Rolex Series in 2022, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic is a cornerstone of the DP World Tour, delivering top-tier competition and a premium golf experience. Each year, the world's greatest players, go head-to-head on the legendary Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club, vying for one of the tour’s most sought-after trophies and a prize fund of $9 million.

In 2025, defending champion Rory McIlroy returns on a quest for a record fifth Dallah Trophy. He will be joined by double Major champion Jon Rahm as the two global superstars headline a world-class field that also includes Olympic Silver Medallist Tommy Fleetwood, along with fellow European Ryder Cup stars Robert MacIntyre and Tyrrell Hatton. Major winner Adam Scott will make his third appearance at the tournament while Akshay Bhatia, a two-time PGA TOUR winner and one of hottest young prospects in world golf, will tee it up at Emirates Golf Club for the first time.

Step Fore It Challenge

In partnership with the R&A and Emirates Golf Foundation, fans at the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic are being encouraged to get out and reap the benefits of walking the course during their visit to the tournament via the new Step Fore It Challenge. Research by the R&A shows that golf spectators average over 11,500 steps per day at events, offering a unique combination of physical activity, outdoor enjoyment, and social interaction.

How to enter: Register your steps as you arrive and as you leave the event to be in with a chance to win prizes - every step counts – the most steps win!

TOURNAMENT TOWN

Tournament Town – the hub of family fun

Tournament Town is the home of excitement beyond the fairways, bursting with energy and packed with thrilling activities for all ages. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in hands-on experiences, from arts and crafts to sustainability-driven activities like seed bomb making, DIY workshops, and soil painting.

The atmosphere will be buzzing with vibrant live entertainment, including roaming performers, parades and spectacular juggling acts. Calligraphy artists and caricaturists will paint their magic strokes to create personalised souvenirs of a day to remember, while face painting and the sparkling Glitter Box will get everyone looking festival ready. In addition, a vast selection of delicious food and beverage options will cater to every taste. Live bands, singers and a DJ will keep the energy high from sunset and into the evening, keeping the fun going late into the night.

Live entertainment

There will be live musical performances by The Dazzler, DJ Greene, the Shaliama Band Masters and more, kicking off from 6pm until late during the event every night at Tournament Town. Featuring music spanning various eras, the one-of-a-kind fan ambiance at the beginning of the DP World Tour calendar promises an unforgettable experience for golf fans of all ages.

Friday, January 17, is Family Friday when Tournament Town will host FamilyBeatz, Dubai’s first family-friendly rave. This unique event from 3pm to 6pm will feature live DJs, enchanting live acts, and so much more, promising a jam-packed afternoon for families.

GETTING THERE

As parking spaces are limited, your best option is to take the metro. If there isn’t a metro station nearby, we have found the best options for you to park and ride. The following metro stations offer free parking so you are able to drive there, park your car for free and hop on the metro to get to Al Khail Metro Station, right at the entrance of the Emirates Golf Club! It couldn’t be easier!
